Public Announcement: Lake Garda is safe

Given the exaggerated news of these days, we would like to inform and reassure you with this abstract from the press release of the Vice President of the Garda Community and Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Peschiera del Garda Dr. Filippo Gavazzoni, published yesterday, 26 June 2024.

Lake Garda is safe, and its level has accustomed us over time to important fluctuations.

"...We are accustomed to dealing with the phenomenon of fluctuations in the level of Lake Garda, as historically there have always been periods of reduced water resources alternating with immediately subsequent periods of abundance, as happened in 2003, 2007, or 2023.
Given the knowledge and the study of years of biological, environmental and touristic evolution of Lake Garda, I affirm that Lake Garda has never had problems of any kind, neither in terms of drinking water supply, nor of bathing, nor even less in terms of safety for people and goods.
As the most important and strategic surface water reserve in Italy, the tourist uses of its waters are assured..."
